ASCB is an inclusive, international community of biologists studying the cell, the fundamental unit of life. Our faculty are award-winning instructors who are passionate about fostering a love of science while developing students into successful scientists and leaders. Molecular biology is the study of biology at the molecular level. Faculty Research Cancer, Limnology, Tropical Diseases, Molecular Biology, and Neuroscience are a few of the areas of Biology being analyzed by faculty members at Baylor University.
Our world-class graduate faculty span the full continuum of biological subdisciplines, thus affording a true cross-disciplinary education in Biology. As a biology student you will have developed formidable scientific nous which, coupled with close analytical skills, organizational skills and attention to detail make biology graduates well suited to careers as a research scientist, biologist or lab technician in industry, healthcare or education.
Our faculty members are world-class researchers and teachers who share an excitement for the life sciences. The course now incorporates an optional fourth year, meaning students can either leave after three years with a BA or choose to stay on and complete an extended project under the supervision of an academic member of staff (which can be lab or field-based), in addition to advanced research skills training.
Although these debates are serving to stimulate the science, future advances must be focused on how to direct new knowledge that is acquired to advancing the human condition and medical science. JoVE Biology includes techniques and experimental approaches in the fields of cellular, molecular, and organismal biology. From a series of workshops, you’ll gain critical knowledge in cellular aspects of biology. Bucknell University undergraduate students traveled to with biology professors Sarah Lower and Gregory Pask to western Pennsylvania to do research and scientific outreach to the general public at the annual Pennsylvania Firefly Festival.
We are committed to providing students with a broad exposure to biological processes and systems and a deep understanding of biology at environmental, organismal, cellular, and molecular levels. The options system in the second and third years allows students to study either a general background encompassing a comprehensive range of topics, or specialise in detailed aspects of animals, plants, cells or ecology.
Aspects of biological science range from the study of molecular mechanisms in cells, to the classification and behaviour of organisms, how species evolve and interaction between ecosystems. Biology is the scientific way to understand life. For over 50 years, we have played a central role in the growth of molecular life sciences and the revolution in molecular and cellular biology, genetics, genomics, and computational biology.
Students can experience work in fisheries, forestry science, genetics, microbiology and other lab sciences ecology and conservation at UW-Green Bay-managed natural areas, as wel as study abroad experiences and the health sciences. One specialization within this field would be marine and freshwater biology, which involves learning about the biology of aquatic organisms, including the management of aquatic environments and aquaculture.
